DR. Meagan Mckeen
Dr. Meara Tubman-Broeren was born and raised in Victoria BC, on the traditional territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations. She moved to Ontario to study theatre at York University and spent several years working as a theatre director, playwright, and producer in Toronto, before making a career change to medicine. She attended medical school at McMaster University, completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto, and finally returned to Victoria for her Addiction Medicine Fellowship with the BC Centre on Substance Use and University of British Columbia. Since completing her training she has practiced a mix of family medicine, family practice obstetrics, and addiction medicine, in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. After several years of working as a locum physician for the Coastal Maternity group, she is thrilled to now be sharing a practice at Grow with her colleague. Providing prenatal and postpartum care is one of the most special parts of her practice and she is grateful to have the privilege of supporting patients as they grow their families. She chases that elusive work-life balance with her two young children and husband, spending their time exploring the cafes, brewpubs, beaches, and forests of the island.
